Founder Al Gillis established A-G Administrators in 1983 as a one-man operation to handle local K-12 school district accident accounts. Nearly 40 years later, A-G Administrators has grown to become the national leader in the sports insurance industry, handling innovative sports and special risk accident medical insurance.
Since our start, we have focused on insuring athletes, and honing our expertise and core business to effectively serve interscholastic, youth, collegiate, and Olympic sports programs and student health plans.
In 2008, two of Al’s sons—Dixon and Jake, who had been in the business for 10 years with Al—purchased the business and have been focused on maintaining and steadily building upon the company’s core values.
Today, A-G still writes accident, health, and liability plans for K-12 programs. A-G is also the leader in collegiate student and athletics insurance programs, along with plans for national governing bodies and many youth sports organizations. We also offer special risk coverages to niche markets such as camps, clinics, daycare centers, first responders, and others.
Currently, we work with more than 3,200 K-12 school districts, 675 colleges, and over 3,000 special risk clients, and we are proud to have a reputation in the marketplace for fair pricing and outstanding customer service.
In 2018, A-G Administrators aligned with the 1251 Capital Group, a strategic partner for property and casualty insurance businesses with 50 years of experience and expertise at accelerating growth and scaling operations. While A-G Administrators will utilize 1251’s operating experience and strategic resources, we will maintain our independent culture as sports insurance specialists.
After nearly 40 years serving many thousands of athletes, students, and institutions, we look forward to playing a vital role in finding a solution for your sports insurance risk management needs—now and in the future.
